Did you know that if the battery on your #Tesla dies, you can’t even open the doors? I have a friend whose Tesla has been sitting in his garage for the better part of a week.

We shouldn’t just raise the debt ceiling — we should abolish it. It serves absolutely no purpose.

The only thing the debt ceiling actually does is give corrupt Congress members a "trigger global financial crisis" button.

That may be fine for those who are fairly technically proficient, but the average computer user would likely have a hard time setting up their own password vault.

For those folks (or anyone who doesn't want to be bothered setting up a server just to store your passwords) I think is currently the best choice.

I would agree with you about if only they would provide an easy way to set up a local database on the same machine that runs the Bitwarden program. The harder you make something to use, the fewer the people that will actually use it. Unfortunately that leads to people storing their passwords on a cloud server, which as we've seen can become a huge problem if that server gets hacked!

ChatGPT can write (rote) eulogies, party invites and emails.

But this is a brand new monstrosity — an amalgamation of internet knowledge. Have some fun first and see what you can create with no eye on productivity, said AI artist Steph Maj Swanson, whom you may remember for discovering “Loab.” (Google it.)

As for breakup texts: an AI-authored one is better than ghosting, said one ethicist.

#Freespeech or out of order? As meetings grow wild, officials try to tame public comment.

Across a polarized nation, governing bodies are changing — and sometimes even halting — public comment amid an unprecedented level of invective.

@mcrocker I don't know what you meant by "Is it a problem of migration from Mastodon you something that isn't Mastodon?" but I could not figure out how to migrate my account in a way that would assure that I din't lose anything. Anyone who says it is easy to migrate an account from one instance to another is either smarter than I am, doesn't care if anything is lost in the process, or hasn't tried it on techhub.social. The one thing I wanted was at least for a few days to be able to go back and see if I had followed a particular hashtag, but on most Mastodon instances you have to check each hashtag individually, you can't access a list like you can on qoto.org (the fact that you can't get a list of the hashtags you follow in the stardard Mastodon software is the single biggest reason I moved).

And that 500 character limit is one of the big reasons to consider switching instances, qoto.org gives you a 65K+ limit (I still have 65020 characters left as Ityped the last "0" in that number), and techhub.social gave me 1000. Not sure why most Mastodon instances stop you at 500, that's just not quite enough if you need to actually explain anything (as in this toot). I doubt I will ever write a 65,000 character book on Mastodon but it is nice to not have the artificial limit.

@nixCraft I prefer Bash where possible, it is generally the easiest to use. Python is next, but Perl is too difficult to learn or use. In my opinion, Perl is something only a programming genius with a photographic memory could love.

Did you know? The `systemctl status {service-name}` command replaces the `service {service-name} status` command used in earlier versions of #Linux without systemd. Here is how to see status:

```
systemctl status sshd
```

See cyberciti.biz/faq/systemd-syst for more info.

If they look uncomfortable to you it is likely because they were told that they absolutely can't hit #Greta with their truncheons – at leaste while the press is close.

Doctors on site reported many ( <= 100)
protestors with minor injuries and a few even with major injuries. Why? Because the police' "deescalation" tactics included hitting protestors on the head.
#PoliceBrutality #Lützerath
The murderous brutality of the fossil fuel and related industry still gets a free pass – with fascist police protection.
This is all so unbearably immoral. #RWE
