I think I read somewhere that you can have a "pinned" toot which is usually used for an introduction toot and always appears at the top of your timeline when someone clicks on your name, so my guess would be that people are creating an account specifically for a list and then putting the actual list in the introductory toot.

One possible advantage to that is you can also post additions or changes to the list to that account (in addition to changing the pinned toot) and anyone who is subscribed to the list account would see the changes.

Granted that is not an elegant way to handle it, since you'd be maintaining several accounts.

Just last month, Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) was facing calls to resign after it was revealed that he’d texted then-Chief of Staff Mark Meadows in the week after the Capitol insurrection frantically urging President Trump to invoke ‘Marshall Law’ before President Biden could be sworn in.
Now, Norman will sit on the powerful House Rules Committee alongside fellow far-right extremists Chip Roy and Thomas Massie.

Two mass shootings in three days involving the Asian community and The Wall Street Journal ran this photo of an Asian baby with this headline.

It’s been nearly 3 years of innocent members of our community being attacked or murdered and the xenophobia continues.

A huge fuck you to The Wall Street Journal. You clearly have traded journalistic credibility for clicks.

@drajt There probably is a config file somewhere that defines the thousands separator for various locales but I have no idea which file that might be. Anyway I am glad you found at least as partial solution, though it is weird that they still think parts of Britain still use imperial measurements. At least you guys actually made the switch to metric; in the USA we still use miles, yards, feet, inches, gallons (but U.S. gallons), quarts, pints, etc. Oh, and temperatures in Farenheit. Certain professions and industries use metric (for example the medical profession) but many have not made the switch.

Lots of Republicans constantly claim there’s “nothing” anyone can do about gun violence. They are lying.

Here’s a list of what factually could be done and work. Every option here is a perfectly legitimate example of something that’s well-regulated.

To make progress on gun safety, we have to vote out Republicans.
To make progress on climate, we have to vote out Republicans.
To make progress on or even maintain a educational system now, we have to vote out Republicans.
To make progress on reproductive rights or even maintain a basic level of them apparently, we have to vote out Republicans.

Are we seeing a pattern yet?

In a week with its share of stories on Brett Kavanaugh and Ron DeSantis, a fact that does not get discussed often is how they were members of the same frat -- Yale's Delta Kappa Epsilon.

Considering #Kavanaugh and #DeSantis's war on women, people of color, and democracy itself... a question demands to be answered:

Do elite institutions bear any responsibility for admitting, nurturing, and providing connections to those who would become -- or already were -- monsters?

blatant racism, bigotry, WSJ

The Wall Street Journal opinion pages are routinely absolutely terrible. But... even so I can't even imaging the thought process that resulted in someone there thinking this was a reasonable headline.

They eventually changed the headline, but still...
