Now that Musk and minions are pulling the rug out from under all third-party API work -- the new policy is "pay or leave" after years of a no-charge basic tier that helped make Twitter popular -- a lot of developers are going to have to make some hard choices.
(Remember Musk's claim that he'd put big decisions like this one to a "vote"? Of course you do.)

Reminder: A few top editors at Big Journalism companies claimed outrage that their reporters had been targeted for suspensions -- some still in force -- by Musk and minions. In fact, they demonstrated a pathetic weakness because their companies kept posting on Twitter, and kept advertising on the site.
It goes without saying, of course, that Big Journalism is not interested in covering the implications of this mercantile cowardice.
@mmasnick Okay, cool. I figured it was probably just a mistake, we've all made them! But your edit never reached the instance I use for whatever reason. I suspect the "fediverse" may be a little broken in that regard.

Remember when Ajit Pai took over the FCC and gutted #netneutrality in a matter of months?
It's been nearly a year and a half and Biden still doesn't even have a fully staffed FCC.
Why? Because Democrats are sitting on their hands while Gigi Sohn faces a coordinated dark money smear campaign.
And the latest attacks are dangerous, and blatantly homophobic.
I wrote about it for FastCompany, please share widely https://www.fastcompany.com/90843990/senate-democrats-and-biden-need-to-stand-up-to-homophobic-attacks-on-fcc-nominee-gigi-sohn
Trump and Facebook: The platform is trying to have it both ways https://mathewingram.com/work/index.php/2023/02/02/trump-and-facebook-the-platform-is-trying-to-have-it-both-ways/On January 7, 2021, the day after rioters stormed the Capitol, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram—which was not then, but is now, known as Meta—suspended Donald Trump’s accounts on those platforms, because, the company said, there was a risk that he would encourage further violence. Meta suspended Trump’s accounts indefinitely, but, as I wrote […]

Seriously???
Sohn, a popular reformer with decades of experience in consumer protection and governance, challenges this paradigm. Which is why telecoms and their GOP earlobe nibblers have pulled out all the stops on attacking her, and the Democrats are bumbling like feckless incompetents.
So instead, with the exception of a handful of Senators like Markey and Wyden, you get this homogenized messaging mush that treats the "digital divide" as if it's some causation-free accident, and not the direct and obvious result of monopolization and corruption.
The public's disdain for their cable and broadband providers is immense and bipartisan. Democrats could capitalize on this with messaging highlighting and challenging monopoly, but that might piss off campaign contributors and companies tethered to our intelligence gathering.
