Journalists like @dankennedy_nu are beginning to notice that Mastodon has more engagement than Twitter.

For me, this has been true for a long time. Engagement on Twitter is like winning the lottery. Whereas, on Mastodon, engagement is just a fact of life when using the service.

If the point of social media is to be *social*, the Mastodon beats the pants off of Twitter.

Five years ago we did a story about women being harassed with deepfake porn of themselves, and Scarlett Johansson told me, "The internet is a vast wormhole of darkness that eats itself." Pretty sad that American lawmakers haven't done anything about it, and the problem's only gotten worse

The College Board is hitting back at top GOP officials in Florida over the state's ban on a new AP African American Studies course that's being piloted in several states.

In a lengthy statement released Saturday, the national education nonprofit said it should have more quickly addressed claims by Florida's Department of Education that the course was indoctrinating students and lacked educational value, which the College Board called "slander."
