I remember the first time I refused to attend synagogue. First night of Rosh Hashanah, 1975. I was 16 and had realized by then I was an atheist. “I’m not going. It’s all bullshit.” My dad was furious. He screamed, “What’s your grandma going to say?!” Ironically, Dad had had his own revolt. Grew up in an orthodox house. Married a non-jew. (Mom converted while pregnant with me.) By then he was reformed.

Parents shouldn't force children to attend church against their will. At least, they shouldn't if their goal is something other than making it more likely that their children will grow up disliking religion.
