I'm not sure where that came from, because it takes longer to say than "July 4th", but for some reason that one particuly holiday has been called the Fourth of July as long as I can remember. Typically Americans have liked to shorten things but there is also this thing about tradition, and in that case I suspect tradition wone out.

Police are almost always totally unaccountable professionally, criminally, and civilly. It gives them a sense of limitless authority, which they often execute with impunity.

It’s past time we moved on from policing as it presently exists and to a different model. Police abolition isn’t about letting criminals get away with crimes. It is about replacing this corrupt and broken institution with community/civil protection units that have specialized skills, which can be deployed as and where needed.

The College Board has rolled over and scrubbed its AP African American History curriculum of CRT content deemed "offensive" by Ron DeSantis. And, might I add, right at the start of Black History Month.

Who believes blue states should boycott this for-profit and for-DeSantis company?

I had a disturbing encounter in a retail store yesterday. A masked sales associate approached me with friendly greeting & then dissolved into tears.

Me: Are you OK?
SA: Just tears of relief; I approached you because you were wearing a #mask, so I knew you wouldn't say anything nasty to me about wearing mine.
I can't afford to get #Covid, I just finished my cancer treatment.

Everyday she receives jaw-dropping, stomach-turning anti-mask comments. 🥺

A few months ago, we warned that malevolent people were buying Google ads leading people to fake #GIMP websites to trick them into downloading malware.
Apparently this is still continuing to this day (as were reported to us). Google is still not blocking these fake ads despite the many reports and articles which happened for months now. 😓

Be careful and always make sure where you download your software from. Also the GIMP project doesn't buy ads!

It seems odd to me - watching the shift towards video as the default medium in news stories online.

99% of the time, I don't want to watch a video. I want to read the story. I want the information.

Video is okay in support of the text of the report - but I generally want the text first & foremost. The facts, the data.

When I click a news link - and turns out it is just a video link & no text - I generally bail before the video plays.
