@ixi It took me 10 seconds uninstalling keepass and another 5 minutes to setup another software. Let them do whatever they want. I no longer recommend #keepass.

In my view their reasoning is horrible, they are ignorig everyday practice and real life challenge.

#keepassxc is a good option.

@stopgopfox I think you all should boycott Florida. Don’t travel there, don’t vacation there, and like minded corporations shouldn’t hold events there.

@sadtaco @stopgopfox
Main stream news doesn't catch that as easily as not they'd be the next target. They would be better off calling it like it is and helping stunt fascism rather than preemptively capitulating in hopes of avoiding being a target.

Do not journalists study history?

Congratulations to Exxon Mobile for earning $56 billion net profit in 2022. Against all odds, they found a way to make record profits

$6.3 million per hour
$1,750 per second

But don’t worry. That didn’t stop Exxon Mobil from getting subsidies from our government. Since FY2000

Texas gave them $1.4 Billion
Louisiana: $500 Million
The federal government: $5.4 Billion in bailout money

Does anyone want to know why we are speedrunning to climate crisis?

Bottom line: only an idiot would choose discord as a support channel for their #FOSS protect - especially a Linux distro!

Why you would even consider using discord is beyond the comprehension of most #FOSS and #Privacy_advocates, and the best case scenario results only in fracturing your user base and disenfranchising a huge swath of the community that will simply disregard your project as hostile and as a whole without user support.

Twitter just announced free access to the Twitter API will end on February 9, with unannounced pricing or usage details, effectively killing every free fun and useful thing ever built with it: bots, games, mashups, visualizations, research projects, autoposters, autoblockers, deleters, and so much more. twitter.com/twitterdev/status/

@biktorgj@fosstodon.org #Snap packages is what killed it for me. I still have two older servers running #Ubuntu, but once they get some maintenance love they will become #Debian servers instead.

The New York Times is still normalizing extremism. It's futile to imagine that this will ever change.

When democracy dies, the Times will explain politely that government of the people, by the people, and for the people was just one side of the issue.

@Ten personally I only use #bash since that's what gets things done and just works for what I need to do.

I can't be bothered to learn anything that needs compilation.

Let's say the Chinese government was using TikTok to surveil Americans.

If you ban Tik Tok, the Chinese gov can just legally purchase the same info from data brokers, because the US has almost no privacy laws.

Don't ban TikTok, pass a damn privacy law nytimes.com/2023/02/01/opinion

While the topic of #dragons may seem frivolous and not indicative of #OpenAI’s systems, to me it actually hints at how and where fine tuning efforts are going and what the system looks like without the fine tuning. With fine tuning it can be nudged to give correct answers. Without it, the whole transformer model just smushes content together to imagine answers instead of saying “do not know”. You know that statement we encourage children and adults to use with courage.

I continue to caution people using #OpenAI to generate content or answers on topics that the individual has surface level knowledge of. Out of curiosity I asked it to generate an “about” section of a stormcutter dragon from the #HowToTrainYourDragon series. There’s enough content on the internet for it to do so. It just generated an entirely fictional description of a #dragon with feathers and iridescent scales. And it imagined the dragon to appear in the first movie as well. #AIHallucinations

Good morning, the empty bookshelves in Florida schools keep my head busy, since I'm a teacher with a library in my classroom in Berlin myself. That's a history lesson in front of our very eyes and exactly how fascism started in Germany. Books were banned and then burnt and everyone said, well, I can't do anything, I don't want to loose my job, I don't like it, but... Many little steps were made by many little people who didn't stand up against a new little rule. You know how this ends.
