Just heard from someone in the #Portland #PDX Bureau of Transportation that their "transportation wallet" program for people living/working in certain neighborhoods will, starting this coming year, only be accessible via a proprietary Android/iOS app, as opposed to submitting a form and getting a physical Hop card as in years past.

Apparently if you don't have or use a smartphone and proprietary software, you're not "good enough" to use public transportation.

I feel like I post this everyday but anyway.... We spend a lot of time trying to describe what's wrong with conservatives. either they're ignorant, misinformed, hypocritical, afraid, etc. I experienced a fundamentalist Christian upbringing, and I believe that is the root problem, one we don't point to enough.

Fundamentalist Christianity teaches you to trust authority without thinking. It teaches you that anyone who makes you feel uncertain or challenged is literally Satanic. It teaches you that when science/fact conflicts with belief, you need to stick to belief even harder than before. It teaches parents that they should have absolute control over their children, and that kids should ignore and repress any thoughts that don't conform to what their church teaches. And of course it teaches you that sex and gender are God-given and women are genetically intended to be in subjection to men.

We shouldn't be surprised that people who have been poisoned by this idealogy for decades literally can't make informed decisions anymore. They are easy to manipulate because they're swimming in brainwash soup every day. It goes beyond bad judgement or misinformation, it's a mindset that disconnects you from reality. US conservatives will never make sense until we come to terms with how mind control works.

I've never bought into the whole heaven/hell thing. But I do believe in reincarnation, having remembered details about a couple of past lives -- details I had no way of knowing about (and this was before the internet). Later in life, my young niece relayed to me details of how she died in a previous life (at around the age of 4) -- something we still talk about to this day. I don't know for certain what happens when we die, but I've never been able to explain what I, and others, have experienced...

People try to blame it for all the world’s problems & it does contribute somewhat, but we have the choice to turn off the computer & do something else. All the programs out there help keep kids safer, but they also keep kids from critical thinking. I mean after the 20th Nigerian Prince emailed me, I kinda figured out on my own it was a scam
