Am I correct in my understanding that the original idea of #OpenAI was that advanced deep learning models were inevitable and them being exclusively in the hands of bad actors would be bad for humanity. So the best way to counter this would be to develop the best possible ones and give them away for free, and that a bunch of billionaires pledged to this cause. And then after they started developing models they were like "Oh wait, this is good, screw philanthropy let's sell this for profit".
