It's interesting the things that a "totally ordinary" user program can do that will just absolutely WRECK the current user session on #MacOS.
Obviously, just running the system out of swap memory or VM space will do it, but there are some other resources that are much more limited.
The latest version of this I ran into was running the system out of file handles. All of the apps I had running got into unrecoverable states, I couldn't even log out...

As hate speech against gays and Jews surged on Twitter in recent months, real-world attacks did as well. Some of the antisemitic attackers cited rapper Ye, who tweeted virulently anti-Jewish sentiments after Elon Musk welcomed him back. Tweets with variations on the word "groomer," which previously had been classed as hate a term, rose just after shootings and intimidation, researchers found, normalizing violence against victims. Sales taxes are regressive. They hurt the poor, working class, and middle classes the most.
30% on a minimum wage job is a significant hit. A 30% consumption tax for a billionaire is infinitesimal.

Reading through all the personal stories of the folks impacted by all the big tech company #layoffs all I can say is this: Your company is not your family, no matter how many times they might say otherwise. At the end of the day, your value to them is transactional, pure and simple. Make sure you remember that when you decide how much of yourself to personally invest in your employer.
To anyone affected, all the best and I hope you all land on your feet. 💙

"when Twitter bans interoperable clients, nerfs its APIs, and periodically terrorizes its users by suspending them for including their Mastodon handles in their bios, it makes it harder to leave Twitter" - I think that makes it easier to leave Twitter.
Understanding the options for organizing these complex systems, defining the parameters, and making the right decisions is an imperative that has implications far beyond the technical sphere.
