Stop using the term, "Culture Wars". This nomenclature is overt propaganda. We're in the midst of a Democracy vs. Fascism war — nothing less.

I talked with Mashable about how accessibility bots will be affected by Twitter charging for API access. The decision sidelines and shuts down most bots, though I hope to keep one of my bots running. #a11y

Anyone ever heard of the Abaton Transform?

"Abaton Transform automatically regenerates Apple II applications for instant use on the Macintosh. Abaton translates II programs, including screen graphics, at the object-code level for the Macintosh, regardless of the original program’s source language. The process often takes less than 15 minutes, and even the most sophisticated programs are translated in no more than six hours."

It's great that nothing he does works, and his veneer of sci-fi nerd messiah is flaking apart so obviously, and all this, but when things go so far as being taken to court for finance manipulation reasons and then they find that he's not trying to defraud or manipulate but is actually just an utter moron, that feels like we missed out on what should have been an easy win.

We do live in a supremely stupid world so we shouldn't be that surprised.

Of course people want Musk to eat at least some amount of shit, so it's disappointing when he repeatedly manages to not deal with any repercussions from any of the idiotic scam-and-scam-adjacent services and promises he's come up with, regardless of how transparent they otherwise seem.

It's the primal need for something, anything to matter to this clown as an actual consequence, instead of what seems to keep happening

“…for everyone else, #Twitter’s [API] decision discourages playing with the service. It also encourages switching to alternatives — Cheap Bots Done Quick, for instance, has a Mastodon equivalent called Cheap Bots Toot Sweet. ‘It just seems like a tax on innovation,’ says O’Malley.

So next week, Twitter users might wake up to a feed that’s suddenly a lot less fun — and Twitter might have decimated one of its platform’s finest arts.”

I have real mixed feelsing about this. On the one hand, they are turning the trick of doing horrible things under the cover of religious freedom against them, by doing something good that these right-wing nutcases find objectionable. On the other hand, for anyone even mildly indoctrinated in , using the services of anything with "Satanic" in the name is going to bring back all those sermons about how the devil is a deceiver and evil and wants to take you to hell with him (although if you know what the scriptures say in their original languages that's quite impossible, because they say the devil and the fallen angels are confined to their own place which is not inhabited by humans). Even if they can mentally believe those sermons were all nonsense, it's hard to just cast aside beliefs that were deeply ingrained into them from the time they were young. And if they haven't completely given up on their religion (they may be an but not an ) they're not going to want to go within a country mile of that organization. To me it's just unfortunate that the people behind this, who are probably very lovely people, chose to use the name of satan for their group. I get why they did it, because it's a big middle finger to the and other bible thumpers that have caused so many of us so much grief, but in this context it's still unfortunate because a lot of women who they could help will be inclined to avoid them just due to the name.

That said I have been thinking ever since Roe v. Wade was repealed that "freedom of religion" might be an effective workaround for some of these christofascist laws. I remember readin about a church in the southwest (can't recall the name, sorry) that is allowed to use a hallucinogen (that is otherwise illegal to posess) in their sacred rituals because of their religion. I've said before that if you want put books in libraries that are banned by oppressive laws, make them part of a religious canon and then if anyone objects to them being in a library just say sure, you can remove those as long as you also remove all your Bibles and Christian apologetics, and all the other crap religious books including those (ghost-)written by megachurch preachers and other snake-oil salesmen. It would be kind of a win whatever choice was taken, though you would hope they'd decide to allow all the books to stay.
