@nixCraft using a Mac precisely because it’s built on Unix, and have Terminals open all the time. No homebrew, but MacPorts and miniconda!

@miyuru @nixCraft In case of DNS failure… Knowing my mission-critical fixed IPs has saved me many times, plus it’s handy when setting up new headless systems before they are deployed in their final environment.

@nixCraft I can perfectly remember the most important IPv4 addresses around me, but remembering twice as long hexadecimal IPv6 addresses is as hopeless as trying to remember my wife’s phone number. Plus NAT works and offers another layer of privacy: when IPv6 was developed 20 years ago, some people still used telnet! I don’t want every device to have a unique id.
