Working on #postcards to #Georgiavoters and watching football (American). I just realized how badly my handwriting sucks. When we wrote cards for Beto, the text & addresses were already on the cards. We just had to write a decorative slogan of encouragement. It feels good, however, to be doing something for #democracy. With luck, voters will be able to decipher my arthritic handwriting. 2. #Flu activity is crazy high for this time of year. It's key to remember that what's unusual here is the timing; many years flu activity hasn't even started to pick up at this point. This year flu season hit early. Not yet clear how long it will last or how severe it will be.

If you want to see Mastodon at its best, strongly recommend these options:

Android - Use apps Tusky or Fedilab

iPhone/iPad - Use apps Metatext or Toot!

💻 Computers - Log in through your server's website

Mastodon was designed for websites and third party apps. These are *still* the best ways to use Mastodon!

(Official app exists because new people were only looking for an official app in app stores, and giving up when they didn't find one. You don't need to use it!)

3. If you have technical know-how, self-host your own instance
4. If for whatever reason you want to stay on a big instance, make your own back-up instance (like I have)

MOST IMPORTANTLY: If you don't know what an instance is, learn about it immediately.

Twitter users are all like “I don’t know if I can trust a bunch of career sysadmins and network engineers to run their own Mastodon instances” — meanwhile Elon is just running around the Twitter data center going “what’s this button do?”
