WHAT TO DO INSTEAD❓

2. You can Mute a person that you do not wish to read the toots of (temporarily or permanently).
Go to their profile, click on the 3-dots button on the right of “Follow/Unfollow”, select Mute 🔕

3. You can unfollow a person so you will not see their toots in your Home timeline (unless their toots are boosted by others you follow) ​

4. You can Block a person entirely to never see what they toot and they will not see what you toot.
Go to their profile, click on the 3-dots button on the right of “Follow/Unfollow”, select Block 🙅‍♀️

5. If a toot is contravening server’s rules, you should report it in private to the instance's administrator(s) or moderator(s) 🆘

6. These are all choices you have to control what you see in your timelines in a healthy way.

Unless it is harassment, hate, breaking server’s rules (in which case you should report), respect what others wish to toot.

That is their choice and you have yours 💚

The Respect for Marriage Act has just passed the House, 258-169, including 39 Republicans.

It will protect millions of LGBTQ families who otherwise would not have that protection. Senator Tammy Baldwin deserves enormous credit for her leadership in making this happen.

It is a very good thing that this bill is being passed, but it is also a signal of future obstacles. Do not get complacent. This does not end any battles for LGBTQ rights, but it does better prepare us for the battles to come.

My twitter followers are jumping ship. My engagement is dropping rapidly. They changed the algorithm to force feed me right wing accounts. And white supremacy, Islamophobia, & antisemitism on Twitter are being defended as valid points of view.

By contrast this Mastodon community is igniting robust dialogue, respectful disagreement, and offers little comfort to racists and bigots.

This is what Twitter could’ve been, and I’m really hopeful this is what Mastodon continues to be. Thank you all.❤️✊🏽

To all Mastodon-admins: seems like there's an attack on all instances by troll accounts. Servers get slow because of it.
They use thousands of subdomains of activitypub-troll.cf. My 'pull' queues skyrocketed.

I now blocked the domain activitypub-troll.cf and all is back to normal. Please check if you're hit too.

Here I am dutifully trying to use content warnings and hashtags to be a good #Mastodon citizen. Meanwhile my feed is still full of almost incomprehensible RTs with multiple @twitter.com tags that do not translate at all

I am now compiling a list of all servers who may have an interest in joining the United Federation of Instances.

Quite a few instances have already signed up.

Please reach out to me, all servers of any size are welcome!

This is non binding, its just to get a preliminary list. You can withdrawl at any time and dont have to go through the application process. I just want to know what servers to reach out to once we begin kicking things off.

I am a `developmentally disabled/physically disabled` adult, who is looking to hire a part time assistant. To help me run errands, clean/cook and stuff. And if your computer savy i have a pile of abandoned projects that need attention. I live in upstate NY. Syracuse area.

No prior experience with working with the disabled community is required, but it is helpful in some situations.

What is required is a positive attitude toward Neurominoriies. A drivers license, and a willingness to undergo fire safety and abuse prevention training before starting.

Pay starts at $17/hr but varies quite a bit DOE.. hours start at 15/hrs a week, but will be going up to 20 sometime in the next six months or so. Interested. DM me for contact info

You can use your Password Manager to keep track of the accounts for which you have requested data deletion.

1. Keep your login information as usual 🔑​

2. Add a note with the date and the link (or email address) where you placed your data deletion request 📆​
