If you download your Twitter archive it arrives wrapped as a static HTML page, which is not very useful for doing anything with, and worse: it requires the original account to be still active to do useful things like enlarge the images since they use t.co links.

So here's a Python script to convert a Twitter archive to markdown or other formats: https://github.com/timhutton/twitter-archive-parser

Now you can archive your tweets in any way you want.

Tip for newbies: filling in the text description for pics posted is, I have learned, really appreciated. There’s a sizeable community of the visually impaired over here and doing it means they’re not excluded. Also, it’s fun to do. If you’re on your phone, tap on the pic and start typing. (I didn’t realise I could go that) On the desktop app you’re given a prompt. It’s super easy.

The reason I asked to hear from people who weren't going to use CWs was because it shows me what level of concern you have about the wellbeing of others. I've been using this feedback to preemptively block people. I've had people get back to me saying they needed to "force" others to see their trauma. I will not tolerate this and others shouldn't have to either.

Intellectually, this makes sense. Our unconscious minds are messy and all over the place and vary wildly based on mood and so forth.

But even if they measure nothing at all, do we need to have a perfectly calibrated score of our biases? Does that help? Probably not.

The first step of overcoming biases is being aware that it's an issue. And, I mean, if I take an honest look at my background and upbringing, I can see that I came from a biased milieu and it's extremely likely I carry that baggage.

So we start by being aware of the possibility that we're being weird or unfair. We take a moment to reflect on our actions and reactions - to move ourselves from the unconscious to the conscious.

Wait a moment before replying. Take an extra moment before judging the value of a contribution. Are we being fair?
