On a road trip in Ontario, I passed through Port Hope and came across Primitive Designs, a place selling sculptures made of metal, wood, and seemingly whatever they could think of. What lured me in was the massive 20-foot sculpture of Optimus Prime. This is one that I cleaned up a bit and had some fun with in Photoshop.

michelle goldberg @michelle really gets desantis. good piece here:

i would propose that we stop referring to desantis as engaged in culture war. that gives it a veneer of respect, as if it's *for* something. it's not. it's a war against rights, a war *on* americans (literally against americans). it's orbanism, yes, and in the same way it's designed to degrade america as a place for all.

McArthur-Burney Falls

This beautiful waterfall is located north east of Redding California in the Cascade Range.
The park and surrounding area's geology was created mainly by volcanic activity in the area over thousands of years.
There are many layers of rock, some porous and some not. As the rain in the area seeps into the ground the water flows through the porous layers as seen here: See the full image here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/mcarthur-burney-falls-bill-gallagher.html?newartwork=true #AYearForArt #BillGallagherPhotography #BurneyFalls

The magic of #Serengeti National Park is impossible to describe in words (but we keep trying). First, the sounds – the humming grunts of wildebeest and the donkey-like barking of #zebras.

Have I mentioned lately that I love painting flowers? I'm always trying to find new ways to interpret them with watercolor and other mediums.

I've painted a lot of paintings, but some are special. I was painting this when we lost one of our sweet Great Danes. She woofed and I helped her through the doggie door. Went back to my work and when I went to get her she was gone. Passed in her sleep (almost 14).

I've been meaning to post more #photography here than I ever did on the birdsite, so here are a few shots from a recent work trip to Pearl Island, in Pikihatiti / Port Pegasus at the southern end of Rakiura. #Aotearoa #NewZealand

My cat wanted to make sure I knew I had a cat. Especially when I’m having mackerel for dinner

@nlarson830 I agree. As a chronically negative person who is making great efforts to be at least a tiny bit more positive, @Mrfunkedude has been an excellent influence.

While it's common knowledge that negativity spreads quickly, what many often miss is positivity, genuine positivity, spreads every bit as quickly. As socially inept as I am, I can tell when someone is being genuine, & I have no doubts here.

Thank you for adding positivity to the fediverse.

Kjetil Krain, a 73-year-old Norwegian, every day turns on the air-raid siren near the house where Russian diplomats live

He says: "I want to wake them up in a double sense. Both physically and to the fact that they are jointly responsible for this war."

At the same time, Mr. Kjetil is aware that he is violating Norwegian law in some way and is ready to pay a fine or be arrested.
