I have been noticing a lot of squirrels on my spring bird walks as of late mostly foraging on the ground looking for the food they have hidden.

As I was scanning the area for birds the white belly of the squirrel caught my eye. It was early evening when I took this picture, so I gave it that feeling in post processing.

So far I know Mastodon DOESN’T use algorithms to spoon feed us suggestions—I LOVE that because we’re less likely to be manipulated.

I’ve learned it’s up to me to seek out accounts that publish content of interest via #hashtags & so far I’ve followed some.

What I’m unsure of is where/how to use hashtags in things I PUBLISH—bio, posts & comments? Or other places?

Ps—I included hashtags in this post—what do you think?

Certainly I appreciate that our legal system approaches its duties with the greatest of care, though I suppose I might dare hope that they exercised similar care and restraint in the cases of others who aren’t quite so rich or powerful or white or guilty.

I might even dare hope that our systems didn’t save so much of its deliberation and probity for powerful rich white men who spend their lives committing flagrant crimes, and who incite political violence whenever they feel threatened.

But I guess at least Trump’s flagrancy means we all know something now about our legal and economic and political systems, and what constitutes “normalcy” within it—at least if we don’t decide to not know.

I’d say what Trump’s flagrancy tells us is that our legal and economic and political systems are optimized for corruption—by which I mean theft of the public good, for the benefit of a few.
