Watching conservatives claim NYC is dangerous on the birdsite reminds me of a chat I had in Dublin last summer. A couple next to me at a restaurant was visiting from Nashville. They asked of all the places I've lived, what I liked most. I said NYC. He said he'd be frightened to visit because of their tight gun laws, but he felt safe in Nashville. I looked it up: In 2020, Nashville had 607 violent crimes/100k people, and NYC had 256. People need to turn off FOX News!

Republican FEC commissioner suggests the right place to try Trump's violations is at the FEC, but the FEC's lawyers recommended investigations of 24 potential Trump violations since 2016, and Republican commissioners blocked every single one.

Love at first sight.

It's disingenuous for pundits to argue that it's Michael Cohen's word vs. Trump's because we now know that there are audio recordings of the two hashing out their crimes. Also, we now know that some of the fraudulent documents are in Trump's handwriting.

There's no ambiguity. At all.

How often do you get to say it? Progress! NPR will not air Trump live if he speaks about his indictment today, a small win for common sense. (Some might say microscopic.)

But if you click and listen to NPR's executive editor, Terry Samuel, this may be the closest we get to NPR conceding that its Trump coverage 2016 to now didn't work because it tried to use normal tools and assumptions. To me that's significant, and it almost never happens.
