Kansas Republicans have successfully overridden the Governor veto to now authorize genital inspections of children in order for kids to play sports. A very dark and disturbing day.

Can everyone reblog this to help me find more black and/or lgbtq or disabled Mastodon users to be friends with 💛

OK this is wild. People are always told during the #securityclearance process that lying on your SF-86 could constitute a crime, and most lawyers tell their clients that too. But it almost never happens IRL. It's a threat they make to cow you into telling them your deepest darkest secrets.

And now they actually did it. Which is just...wow.

Has anyone else who uses #Mastodon as their main social media platform noticed a far lower level of personal stress?

After several months I feel almost like I’ve moved to a much, much better neighborhood with really great neighbors.

Personally, I am still concerned with lots of socioeconomic, environmental, and other issues the world faces, but I feel far less stressed about them.

It’s just better in so many ways.

It's sweet how timing works. I hadn't made it 100 yards at the start of the trail when the mosquitoes attacked. So it was back to the truck for insect repellent wipes. This little one was perched on the side view mirror but as I got closer it flew into the tree close by, then it turned and watched me from there.

I didn't share a selfie from Monday. Shame on me because I liked the outfit

And if you've never heard of this group proudly issuing press releases about this whackadoodle case, neither had I. But never fear, they've got you covered. If you're asking yourself, who would take such a bizarre position for such crazy clients, they're *exactly* who you think they'd be. Just look at the cases they champion. https://nclalegal.org/amicus-briefs/

A striking, large forest bird, the #PileatedWoodpecker can be quite elusive, you can hear them but not always see them. It took me four days of waiting and watching and tracking through the forest to get close up images.
