Quincy Trouppe played 11 years in the Negro Leagues and was an 8x All-Star. His most notable time was during 1945-1947 as player manager of the Cleveland Buckeyes where he led them to 2 pennants and the 1945 World Series title. Trouppe hit .400 in the series.

In 1952 he became the 1st African-American catcher in AL history with the Indians and formed the first African-American battery with pitcher Sam Jones.
