I’m going to keep repeating this - calling right-wing extremists who are armed, organized, and threatening violence, “militias” works to their goal of establishing legitimacy. They are terrorists. Call. Them. Out.

And if you’re in media and calling them “militias”, but refer to Daesh, ISIS, Al-Qaida, or the Taliban as “terrorists”, you should really think about why that is and the bias that you’re internalizing in your work.

Silvio Berlusconi just died. During his life he caused immense damage to both Italy and the EU.

For decades he used his media empire to propagate a culture of sexism, racism and utter disregard for culture and science. He facilitated organized crime and helped Putin gain a foothold within the EU both politically and financially.

Even though he was already waning politically after the 2012 crisis, the damage he has done within Italian society will take decades to undo.

Most of you reading this probably are too young to directly remember Nixon's Watergate scandal. Sometimes in our lives we live through events and don't realize that they are historic until many years or even decades later. Watergate was not one of those. We knew at the time that it was crucially important history.

Trump's federal indictment falls into the same category. You are watching enormously crucial history unfold in real time before you, that will affect this country and the world for many decades (at least) to come.

Map request. I'm looking for a digital download of a WW2 map of central Italy. There are a few that would be helpful, around a place called Venafro. These are GSGS 161 maps, in either 1:25000 or 1:50000. I have neighbouring sectors, eg 160, but cannot find these in any online archive. I know they did exist at one time, as I have this image of the map overlaid on terrain on Google Earth. Any help most gratefully received. Thanks.

Once again - the Reddit blackout begins tomorrow. Do NOT visit reddit. Do not lurk to see what your favourite subs are doing that day. Ideally all week. But a minimum for two days.

Do not open the app. Go completely silent.

Hopefully Reddit does the right thing and reversed their decision on the API and mod tools.

After next week - If the blackout continues and Reddit sends in a scab to any of your favorite subs - unsubscribe to the sub and stop posting or commenting there.
