Me too! I abandoned my X account last fall — didn’t have much to lose in the way of followers, so it was easy for me.
I think some accounts stay back there in the armpit of hell because they have lots of followers & don’t want to give that celebrity up.
But to my mind, if they were real “thought leaders” they’d leave X & take their followers with them. Their reticence to do this tell me they’re addicted to X’ algorithm that favors their accounts. #x

20 yrs ago I was a new PhD student with an $18K/y scholarship, which increased to $30K/y when I managed to get a CGS-D scholarship from CIHF (+ $2K top-up from my supervisor’s research grant). Despite 52% inflation, many grad students are now making less than I did, and most post-docs are paid far less than the $70K/y I made with an NSERC-IRDF at Tekmira ($ABUS) in 2009.

Grad students and post-docs are the future of science and need a living wage!!

82-year-old German Reinhard Kleine spent all his savings, €25,000, on an ambulance for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He drove the vehicle from Berlin to Kyiv himself. Now it will save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers in the Bakhmut direction.

Anti-matter falls in a gravitational field just like normal matter!

While theory suggests it to be true, it is so important to see it actually confirmed in an experiment! (And it is so cool. they can make anti-matter atoms and control them…).

It is still a mystery why inertial mass, coming from quantum physics essentially, is the same as the gravitational mass in relativity - at least as long as we don’t have a theory of quantum gravity.

Good Wednesday morning, y'all. I'm kinda up and sorta movin and even almost conscious. 🥱

Woke up to a lovely sunshine n cool 65deg morning #today. Got my coffee successfully poured without spilling it and have made it all the way to my "sit n sip" seat by the picture window to sit n sip in the morning sun. ☕️ 😴

I'm looking at another hot summer like day in the mid-80s. It got really hot yesterday. It topped out at 88 degrees! 🥵
Was getting really uncomfortable there, and I even thought of closing up the place and turning the air conditioning back on. I didn't, though. By the time the heat seeped in to heat up the interior, the exterior temps were slowly sliding down, so I just tossed off the t-shirt and toughed it out. 👍

Not much else happening around here #today. Just the usual ho-hum Wednesday Honey-doins to fiil #myday. Hopefully, some sitting n sipping 🍹outside to soak up some of this lovely sunshine.🌞 #Joinin if your time and weather permit. 🤗 🖖
