You know how when a Black person is lynched by the cops and ppl respond by calling for peace and spending all their time worrying about the property violence that sometimes follows, when the story gets a certain amount of public attention?
And you know how white folks on fedi constantly hate on the Bad Space and fediblock, relentlessly criticizing both projects while completely ignoring the harm to POC on fedi that caused those projects to be started in the first place?
Even though those situations ARE different in scale, both of those reactions come from the same place. It's a place of policing, boundary crossing, and a severe lack of empathy.
This is what we mean when we speak about white supremacy. Most of you participate in it one way or another. Even if you don't agree with how we protect ourselves from your violence, literally the least you could do would be to be silent and let it happen.
But no, a bunch of you can't even manage that. You have to try and fight us and gaslight us. Fuck off

Significant UX upgrade in Mastodon. If you're looking at someone else's post on a different server than your own, you no longer have to do multiple clicks and copy/paste to share the item.
You just put your own hosting server into the popup box and it shows you the post in context in your own timeline, and you can share it from there.
No this isn't perfect -- still too many steps.
But it's a major improvement.

As a murderer stabbed a Muslim woman named Dr. Talat Khan to death, witnesses report that 17 Texans pulled out their firearms and WATCHED. 17! The murderer stabbed her, stopped to check her pulse, confirmed she was alive, & went back to stabbing her to death.
And 17 "good guys with guns" did nothing but WATCH.
A reminder that the "good guy with a gun" myth is a propaganda point to sell more guns. It does nothing beyond an anecdote to save lives.
