France has issued an international arrest warrant for bloody dictator Bashar al-Assad of Syria, for war crimes and crimes against humanity, primarily the use of sarin gas (universally banned chemical warfare) against the civilians of the city Ghouta in August 2013 killing at least hundreds, up to thousands and wounding thousands more.

Paris prosecutors have investigated the chemical warfare attack since 2021, following reports by several Syrian exile organizations documenting the atrocities of the "civil" war.

The arrest warrant also covers al-Assad's brother and two Generals of Syria.

This was just reported by the TT news agency.

Still nothing on the very many well documented cases of since years still continuing use of chemical warfare against the defenders by the aggressor in Erdoğan's genocidal war of aggression in northern Iraq, southern Kurdistan.

It's bad enough to expect someone to work until they're 80 yet refuse to hire them after they turn 50. It's worse to attach healthcare to their job or Medicare, yet ignore those who fall between 'too old to hire' and Medicare-eligible. But it's a whole other thing to saddle those same people with the burden of caring for family members with Alzheimer's simply because they don't make enough money to afford care. How much does the middle class have to suffer before we say ENOUGH?

This is a bad take from Techdirt. Google vs DOJ is not about penalizing Google for having a better search engine than Bing. It is about whether Google can use billions of dollars to ensure there is practically no opportunity for end users to discover or try new out search engines.

This is still a weak argument by the DOJ but it's not the same as punishing Google for having a better product. That a framing only Google's PR team would love.

To be "gypped" is a great example of how only the effected population gets to say a word is no longer hurtful. In modern use it means "to be swindled". It was originally a direct reference to being swindled by the Romany (Gypsies).

These days, no-one thinks about the fact that you're slandering an entire race of people when you say it. No-one except the Romany.

It's just as hurtful to them today as it was when it was created.

Was watching a YouTube video the other night and the creator was responding to a comment that describing something as "crazy" was offensive. His response was that a) he was only saying it playfully and b) "meanings change over time". He used the fact that "literally" now means "metaphorically" too 🤦‍♀️ as an example.

Meaning's do change over time, but that's ONLY relevant if the people the world hurt no longer see it as hurtful.
