I don't know how good my chances are with this company. I applied for a senior level position since my last job title was Senior Developer, but their level is pretty high. I was told that there are other open positions if I don't make the cut for the senior position.

It would most certainly solve a lot of problems to have a fully remote job. But it's crucial that I feel some kind of connection to people. Many places I worked before, they didn't have any code reviews nor stand-ups. You were seated at your desk in your drab office and you finished your work and nobody looked at it. It felt like your work didn't really matter.

I think some of it is due to European working culture. The job comes second place. Life happens after work. There's a very clear work-life separation and you don't discuss your job much with others.

Personally, I have my energy in the early hours of the day and it starts tapering off by evening time. I'm rarely in the mood for doing anything in the evening. If I'm not doing stimulating things in the daytime, I'm not doing them at all. Evening is for chilling out.
