Banning books is the predecessor to banning the people those books are about. #BannedBooks #Libraries

@brianonbarrington Me too. Btw, the term "alt right" is a euphemism admittedly coined by Nazi Richard Spencer to desensitize the public. I've never used that word, I prefer calling them what they are.

It's endlessly fascinating (and frustrating) that tech people fall for very new tech hype. Every single time.

Aren't you nerds supposed to be really into science and super logical and inclined to critical thinking?

Here's one thing I've learned as a Jew and the son of a WWII refugee: you don't just watch out for the nazis - you watch who goes to bat for the nazis.

JK Rowling goes to bat for the nazis.

I deal with a lot of foreign language manuscripts which I have been translating by hand and I literally just learned that it's possible to do this

#FOUND : (#SantaRosa area)

#Cat was on my porch this morning. Ate 3 big cans of tuna. Was muddy from the rain, so I gave him a bath.
If you know of anyone missing a Tabby(?) in East Santa Rosa, tell them to PM me?

Hospitals are still reporting new mothers for neglect based on drug tests triggered by poppy seeds https://reason.com/2023/03/23/hospitals-are-still-reporting-new-mothers-for-neglect-based-on-drug-tests-triggered-by-poppy-seeds/

The kitten harvest was bountiful that year, and the village rejoiced. 🌾 Photo from my collection, no info. #CatsOfYore #Cat #Cats #History

Whatever you’re doing this #Caturday, be assured that Jasper does not intend to participate. He’s just going to sit in this chair & frown at the world. And maybe sleep for a bit. (He’ll be asleep here most of the day).

The journalists caught in the #ElonJet drama (including myself) have withdrawn their #Twitter appeals and returned to a social media platform that is just too intertwined with our profession to divorce. https://open.substack.com/pub/newsguy/p/our-feckless-fealty-to-twitter/

This #Caturday, I’d like to celebrate Arlo’s deep commitment to head brushes, his stretching ability, his balancing acumen, and his overall adorableness. Please join me in celebrating! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I wonder if people using mastodon know that, without section 230, no one could legally afford to run a mastodon instance. Section 230 protects what we do here every day. Politicians threatening 230 are threatening free speech on the internet.

@realTuckFrumper Has anyone ever asked these zombies what, EXACTLY, trump has done for them, personally, that warrants this kind of fanatical devotion? I would truly be interested if they have some tangible proof of what trump has done for anyone. He doesn’t even help his own spawn without it benefiting him.

This is not standing with Ukraine — or vulnerable Ontarians.
