The Regalecus glesne or Giant Oarfish, sometimes referred to as The Ribbonfish or The King of Herrings, inhabits the epipelagic and twilight zones of oceans, all around the world! They are the largest species in their genus! They reach lengths of 3 meters or 9.8ft and up to weigh 600 pounds! The largest-confirmed specimen was a staggering 36 meters or 118ft. long!

(Normally I don’t think people care about people being around or not around but I know there’s a tendency for people to be on mastodon and then lose interest, and I just want it clear that’s not what’s going on with me!!)

Fox News will likely try to recoup the $787 million settlement by negotiating higher carriage fees with cable providers.

Those providers will then pass the extra costs to you by increasing your monthly bill, even if you never watch Fox News

Fox News lies

You pay

It’s time for some sleep

Hopefully tomorrow I got some more time for updates for now good night my dear friends ❤️

At the beginning of the pandemic, our dream of retiring in Europe dashed, we moved to #Florida to ride out the storm. Got up early one morning to clear my head and take a walk on the beach and this is what I say. A #thunderstorm of the most beautiful kind. Juno Beach.

Twitter eliminates another policy protecting trans users

Elon Musk has commissioned the misgendering and deadnaming of anyone trans

Reminder: one of his children is trans

If you are still on Twitter, you are part of the problem. Regardless of the hashtags on your profile.

For those who don't know, CBC/Radio-Canada is our national public broadcaster. Yes, they are government funded. No, they are not a government mouthpiece. And they are respected by many, just not the usual wingnuts.

I appeared on dozens of their shows hundreds of times over the years. It is a MASSIVE operation, reaching into every nook and cranny of our country.

This is a significant move.

One day Mzinga & Nyambeni will be wild elephants. As they navigate their early years, we're supporting them at every step.

Later, in the wild, we'll be working behind the scenes to protect them & secure their home.

You can play an integral role through an adoption: http://sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/orphans

The Murdoch-Dominion settlement is a farce for so many reasons, but here's one of them.

If this had gone to trial, with the (IMO inevitable) result of the Murdochs' Fox "News" being held liable for its lies, it would have been more difficult for Big Journalism to keep pretending the company does anything resembling honest journalism.

Because even now, the rest of the industry treats Fox as if the word "News" is legitimate in its name.

What will it take for the craft to do the right thing?

You guys … this killing of Black men, women, and children is too much. It’s Just. Too. Much. And if you don’t know what I’m referring too THAT right there is part of the problem.

everything is depressing, but relax; it will get even more depressing

The number of minors employed in violation of child labor laws increased by 283% since 2015.

Remarkably, this year, legislators in 6 states (IA, MN, MO, NE, OH, SD) have proposed 8 bills that make it easier to exploit kids for profit.

We live in the Second Gilded Age.
