The Neverending Clarence Thomas Scandals
Justice Clarence Thomas, the longest-serving member of the US Supreme Court, has been making headlines recently for a series of errors and omissions in his financial disclosure forms, raising questions about his commitment to transparency and ethics. With accusations of undeclared gifts from billionaire friends, his wife Ginni's political meddling, and the recent discovery of luxury vacations funded by others, it's time to ask: when will enough be enough? Thomas' behavior casts a dark shadow over the highest court in the land, undermining the very foundation of justice and public trust.

Trans Legislator Muzzled in Montana
In the hallowed halls of Montana's legislature, a voice is being stifled. A voice that represents a marginalized community, a voice that speaks truth to power. Rep. Zoey Zephyr, the state's first transgender legislator, is being silenced by her Republican colleagues, all because she dared to call out their bigotry. In a flagrant display of hypocrisy, these so-called champions of free speech are suppressing dissent, demanding an apology for highlighting the real-life consequences of their discriminatory policies. The irony is palpable, as those who claim to stand for decorum trample on the very principles of democracy. https://news.yahoo.com/transgender-lawmaker-silenced-montana-house-225544896.html
If you have friends on mastodon.social and mastodon.online who belong to marginalised groups, who need online safety and protection from targeted harassment, perhaps they should be made aware that the instance they're on is not the safest.
The moderation on those two instances has improved in the past two months in terms of dealing with individual account reports, but they're still clearly sorely lacking in the fediblock department.
@APBBlue thanks for gifting the article. A small conservative town near us had the same type of lunatics try to take over the school board and the townspeople got the word out and thwarted them. Hopefully the pendulum will swing back in Ottawa.

This is hot off the press as my husband only took this shot 10 hours ago. I posted a pic of the camera in action up there last night!

Unusually the internal lights are on inside the lighthouse, I think maintenance was being carried out on it. This location often records the highest wind speeds in the UK when it's stormy. It was the complete opposite of that last night, so calm!

"Why won't you pay the $8?"
Five months ago, before she died, my 91-year-old great-grandmother described to me how, while her mother was taken to the gas chambers by the Nazis, she asked her mother, "Where are you going?" and "When are you coming back?" She never saw her mother again. I was literally shaking while I was listening.
Now, when I checked Twitter, I bumped into two accounts, one "verified," and the other one lost their "verification" yesterday. I'll just leave it right here...

Mostly reclusive and carrying slightly damaged goods. A survivor by some accounts. Definitely in need of much therapy. ;)

Bear in mind that, while I may "like" your "toot", about a person, event or particular topic, if it links to the "bird-site" I will no longer boost and inadvertently contribute to their grift. Everyone has a choice and a part to play when crimes go unpunished.
