@MPgh @Nordstahl big smiles for today. I have a lot of good news bad news that has happened for the past few hours and that walk totally set up my positive energy to be able to form a plan and move forward.

This is what an erupting volcano looks like from space.

I'm on a walk with my kiddo and we get to the I-90 tunnel and it's totally empty...then 'Everywhere' by Fleetwood Mac comes on and I start prancercizing with the music blasting to the highest level on my phone to the embarrassment of my son.

Then this runner comes into the tunnel with the biggest grin on his face.

It's the most joyful I've felt in a while.

Everyone...the sun is out in #Seattle #today .🌞

William Martys was using leaf blower on his own property when his 79-year-old neighbor, Ettore Lacchei, shot and killed him

16-year-old Ralph Yarl went to pick up his younger brothers at a friend's house in Kansas City. He went to the wrong house and was shot in the head

Kaylin Gillis made a wrong turn and was murdered in upstate NY

These stories aren’t uncommon

So far in 2023, there have been 13,510 gun violence deaths.

172 mass shootings
563 children under 18 murdered

It’s the guns.

I’ve cried real tears every day this week trying to receive medical treatment. I have insurance. I live in a blue state. I followed all the rules.

Everyone keeps apologizing to me and I still haven’t gotten my prescription – of ten years – filled. Nobody here gets proper healthcare but the wealthy.

A pair of refurbished (i.e. slightly streamlined) #SNCF 🇫🇷 #EAD class #X4750 #Caravelle diesel trainsets is seen here in May 2006. These #Normandy units worked services to and from #Granville (if I remember well). They were built in the late 1970s and have since been withdrawn.

⚠️🇺🇦This woman and her daughter were killed by a Russian missile in Dnipro while they were sleeping in their home.
The photo was published by the murdered woman's sister. “This morning a Russian rocket killed my cousin and my 2-year-old great-niec. My uncle and aunt are in moderate condition in hospital. The house is uninhabitable. Rest in peace my little angels, I love you very much,”she wrote. (PHOTO) #Ukraine #NATO #Press #News #Invasion #Russia #9yearsOfWarInUkraine

Are you a developer? Do you want to help one of the most flexible and interesting Fediverse projects?

Friendica (https://friendi.ca) needs developers to help on the frontend, between the server-side PHP modules and views and the client-side HTML/CSS/Javascript aspect.

(It would also be nice if they ran their own Friendica node to help with testing.)

➡️ Are you interested? If so, get in touch with @hypolite

We pretend cats are jerks when really they’re just good at putting up boundaries.

Republicans are coming after a Nebraska state senator who stands against antri-trans legislation

The complaint against Sen. Megan Hunt states she could benefit financially from the failure of LB 574

A measure that bans gender-affirming care for those under 19

…Her child is trans. That’s the “financial benefit”

Maybe we should take a look at the stock purchases, kickbacks and rubles the republicans have?

The next time you hear conservatives use any of the following terms, ask for a definition. They won't have any.

"Woke."

"Critical race theory."

"Cancel culture."

"Socialism."

They just want to stoke culture wars to divert attention from economic looting and oligarchy.

@george nope, first I've heard. I've noticed it's currently brighter than it's average, but the that doesn't mean anything on its own.

I'll keep an ear open, see what I can learn, thanks!

There are moments when a conversation leaves you speechless and immediately expands your worldview. When I chatted with United States Army veteran, feminist, writer and trans activist Charlotte Clymer, that is exactly what happened.

As many know, the Republicans have targeted the trans community with particular viciousness and ferocity in the past two years and we want to understand what’s behind it a bit more deeply. At a more fundamental level, we want to hear from trans people like Charlotte about common myths and misconceptions and what it’s like to be trans in America today.

Importantly, those of us who are horrified by the legislative attacks on trans identity and hate crimes against trans people want to know how we can best be allies in this struggle.

Please consider taking the time to hear directly from Charlotte about what is currently happening: https://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/five-questions-with-charlotte-clymer

This is a big yikes. Guys impersonating police officers in Nashville on the regular. 😳

Given how much heat we put into the ocean (yes, it's us), why is everyone surprised that ocean temperatures are increasing? 🧐
