As of this time, two women are considered missing😢

Beer was once considered so sacred that only women could brew it–until witchcraft accusations stopped that in its tracks. https://trib.al/uENi4Fz

Recently I was cautioned against using hashtags for a group I’m not part of, because it would create “noise” for incommunity discussions. The request was phrased in a gentle way; it likened my use of a hashtag to attending an event I wasn’t invited to.
I got that analogy, but got to thinking…

Question (especially for mastodon veterans): Do you think this is a general unstated rule here?
(I’ve found a home & wish to be a good mastodon citizen!)

I’ve been told that tomorrow is a new day, and I really hope that’s true.

Also, here’s a photo of a handsome #rabbit.

If you took every billionaire on earth and stacked them on top of one another at the bottom of the Marianas Trench, that would be great.

Some schols in Texas are cancelling school trips to see a children's play because the actors are allegedly cross-dressing in... James and the Giant Peach.

Spotted this armadillo foraging in the grass along a rural road on one of our afternoon outings. Such interesting little creatures with their armor-like exterior and beautiful pattern on their body and tail.

@seldo I think people have been guilty of putting Mastodon on a pedestal and thinking it would be a utopia, open and welcoming to all. In the great migration we still had people trying to make this space the same as Twitter (shouty, offensive, rude…) and there were people here who were absolutely not happy to have anyone come from Twitter. No platform is going to give black people a truly safe space and experience unless it is built by us for us.

26-Year-Old Fernand Reported Missing in Toronto's Bathurst and Queen Area - #Toronto #Ontario #missingperson #missingpeoplecanada #missingincanada

The Toronto Police Service has reached out to the public for assistance in locating Fernand, a 26-year-old who went missing on Friday, April 21, 2023. Fernand was last seen in the area of Bathurst Street and Queen Street West...

The clear message I am getting from Bluesky is that black people felt unsafe on mastodon. Black Twitter was a huge part of what made it special, and it's been notably absent on mastodon. I will be sad if mastodon loses to a less-open alternative because it couldn't figure out how to be welcoming to everyone.
