AI vs. Hollywood: Writers battle “plagiarism machines” in union talks

WGA writers don't want to train AI or clean up AI-generated "sloppy first drafts."

If you forget your photo ID when voting tomorrow, don't let (Conservatives) at the door turn you away, a polite fuck off fascist, then go through to the desk so they note down you were turned away.

So, what does McDonald's have to say about the franchisee that uses child slaves? Shouldn't they LOSE their right to own franchises?

75 years ago today, Howard C. "Tick” Lilly was tragically killed in the line of duty when the Douglas D-558-I Skystreak he was piloting crashed on takeoff. He was just 31 years old. @NASAArmstrong

The countless cascades of Red Rock falls in Many Glacier create a soothing sound that welcomes hikers in the back country to take a break and take all the sights and sounds in.

PS if you are from Finland or know someone from Finland who could talk me through why Finland keeps being included on these lists of European countries who are limiting access to gender-affirming care for minors, please get in touch.

An Atlantic piece included Finland in their list of countries, just like all the trolls have been, and that piece's only evidence is a totally ambiguous phrase from some 2020 guidelines.

A shot from the aptly-named Sunset Park in North Bay, Ontario beside Lake Nipissing. This was an afterthought - I had just eaten dinner at a local pub and didn't feel like heading to the hotel yet, so I found this place.

It’s about six minutes long and follows Kes, a cyberpunk cyborg, and her best friend, Rover, a robotic puppy car!!

General John Wool was a rare veteran to serve in the War of 1812, Mexican-American War, and American Civil War. Wool fought in the Battle of Plattsburgh which repulsed a British invasion of NY in the War of 1812, fought against Santa Anna in the Battle of Buena Vista in the Mexican-American War, and captured Norfolk VA as a 78 yo Union general in the CW. He became the 23rd man to hold the rank of major general in US history.

Big news in #Michigan: A county clerk who was an election denier faced a recall election. (She was accused of mishandling equipment.) She massively lost tonight & will be out of office.

"I don't want to leap to any conclusions, but it has come to my attention that the conservative capture of the federal judiciary not only has effectively set us well down the road back to 1871, but also has been a most excellent vehicle for delivering graft to the people on the inside."

I have a great idea! Create a super useful resource & put lots of effort into it. Then paywall the shit out of it so no one can use it.

As a freelance journalist, it's a minefield of wasting time via paywalls & being forced to sign up for shit I will immediately mark as spam as soon as I get the first email. Makes the reporting worse, too

Trying to write a piece on attacks on diversity, equity & inclusion on campuses. If you want to read about academia w/out being a millionaire, you're screwed

So, I recently (i.e. yesterday) decided to make a separate #Instagram account for my #ACNH nonsense. If you are on Instagram and interested, here's the account: https://www.instagram.com/mdmrn_crossing/

Don't worry - I'm not going to stop posting said content here. Not that I think you were too worried, but just in case

And at the moment I'm not planning on doing that here - one personal #Mastodon account is enough for me. This is a multi-fandom geek Dad account!

But, I wonder how y'all feel about making separate, niche accounts for your fandoms. I know that happens on Instagram, but wasn't sure if people were doing that in the #Fediverse too.

Remember when the CDC said we shouldn't call the #COVID19 outbreak at their in-person event an outbreak? Guess what? It's an outbreak!

But, get this, the public health agency is opening a probe to figure out why their maskless conference held during an ongoing pandemic caused an outbreak of the pandemic virus. It's a mystery!

*My Love 4 is a charming little romantic painting about love and the beauty of human connection.

And here a semi-regular reminder.

Antifa literally just means 'anti fascist'.

It's not a club.

And if you 'oppose' the idea of being against fascists then I shall call you by name...

You fucking fascist.

@jeff Well this is one of their obvious pretexts to do something insanely stupid. Buckle up everyone..
