So there’s this Lake.

(Lake Michigan from the far north side of Chicago)

“Helicopter footage showed at least four white tarps beside what appeared to be blood on the concrete outside an H&M store.” https://www.dallasnews.com/news/crime/2023/05/06/video-authorities-respond-to-shooting-at-allen-premium-outlets-mall/

TX stat rep just now on MSNBC “it’s a slaughter house” & republicans who only offer thoughts & prayers “can go to hell”.

On this Coronation day here's a little thing about the new King Charles and myself.
I designed and made 'Chair in Flight' and 'Hidden Feeling', a chair and table set, while at college.
The then Prince Charles was visiting and my pieces of furniture were requested and selected to be presented to him to use for the photo shoot and signing his portrait.

I wrote a brief about myself and my furniture pieces and made sure it was all well presented for him.

On the day all my identifying documents were removed and I was told not to attend as the college said I was a 'security risk', and offered no explanation.

Afterwards I was told that if I ever sold these pieces off the back of the Royal connection the college wanted 60% commission.

I would burn them before they get a penny!

@flexghost The GOP must be so proud of their "well regulated militia". This is the GOP's war on the rest of us - they keep arming people, making sure anyone and everyone has whatever weapons they want, or need. It's the guns at the hands of the GOP. We MUST start holding the GOP accountable.

@georgetakei The world is starting to warn their citizens about visiting the US.

We've been trying to tell boomers this for a long, long time...and, by and large, they don't seem to hear. #EverybodyKnowsShitsFucked

Mourning dove in the morning.

There is at least a trio of mourning doves (Zenaida macroura) who hang around, because of my feeders. But I'm currently at war with the mob ... of pigeons. So, when they showed up this morning, I put the feeders away.

"Perhaps one reason why Mourning Doves survive in the desert: they can drink brackish spring water (up to almost half the salinity of sea water) without becoming dehydrated the way humans would." - allaboutbirds.org

#Folklore claims this grave - in Hathersage, Derbyshire - is that of Robin Hood's loyal lieutenant, Little John. John - a giant - is said to have died of a broken heart following Robin's death. The grave was excavated in 1784 & a massive human thighbone discovered. The man who ordered the excavation - Captain James Shuttleworth - hung the bone above his bed, despite locals warning 'no good would come of it'. After suffering bad luck & a series of accidents, Shuttleworth returned the bone to the grave. #graveyard #weird #history #churches #psychogeography

Joyful news: last night Montana state Representative #ZooeyZephyr asked journalist #ErinReed to marry her--and Erin said yes.

All happiness to them.

(and if transphobes and fascists choke on their bitterness over these two lovely women's joy, all the better)

@TomWellborn GOP are so quick to bring up Soros as trigger for their base yet Republicans have way more billionaires on their side donating and meddling in democracy e.g. to name a few, Thiel, Musk, Devos, Ken Griffin, Larry Ellison, the entire merry band of the Koch Network.

Spiller's Cove near Twillingate, Newfoundland was a beautiful hike, and not too long - it was maybe 2 kilometers each way. There was no one else around. I'm not sure if that's normal or if I just got lucky, but I wasn't complaining.

All it needs is that "finishing touch".

There are fond memories of playing on the beach building sandcastles. On vacation on the island of Captiva several years ago I had the lucky discovery of this sand castle built on the beach with children coming over to add to it.
