With SCOTUS now allowing developers to fill in wetlands, people who live in places not currently considered flood risks are in for a bit of a surprise when the waters rise.

There are consequences when judges ignore science in favor of bribes. People will lose their homes. A lot of people.

Okay actually this game ("Bread and Fred") is extremely good … I would recommend playing it with someone if you are

1. Very good friends with them, such that you'd enjoy spending a few hours in their close company completing a task together
2. If they are your worst enemy in the world

Seriously… I think it would be *incredibly* fun to play this game with someone you legitimately hate

When it rains after a prolonged period of dry weather, there is a smell created. It's called Petrichor. A wonderful word, and utterly useless trivia item. The smell is caused by something call Geosmin, which is produced by bacteria in the soil. Humans can smell it at 5 parts per TRILLION. In contrast Sharks can detect blood at concentrations of 1 part per million. On this one substance, we have a better sense of smell than sharks do for blood. Humans are amazing!

@StillIRise1963 I live in a small town in Tennessee.

In the main square of that town, just outside of city hall there’s a marble pedestal that’s about 3 meters square. On top of it there’s a bronze depiction of a confederate soldier aiming a rifle. On the side of the pedestal carved into the marble is the phrase DEDICATED TO THE BRAVE CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS WHO DIED.

This exists not simply due to everyone in my town thinking the confederacy was great (most do not, and most honestly kinda hate the memorial). It exists because an organized group of individuals applied constant pressure to create and maintain the memorial (daughters of the confederacy).

Because a small, devoted group of humans put in the effort, cities across the south have these fucking memorials carved in bronze and stone for generations.

I wonder what POSITIVE things small, devoted groups of humans can accomplish in their own communities.

We were never supposed to have a state religion. So why are we allowing SCOTUS to be filled by Federalist Society?

If brands stood up to right wing whackos, the way that North Face is, right wing whackos couldn’t drink most cheap beer, their influencer partners couldn’t buy live laugh love at Target, they couldn’t buy decent mountaineering gear or a nice rain coat. They’d be stuck in Walmart gear, with Hobby Lobby decorations, drinking the worst beer on the market. Anyhow, if we all stand up we’ll discover there aren’t that many left sitting, and fuck those guys.
