A big welcome to everyone new to #Mastodon! 👋
You’re going to like it here.
Unlike #Twitter, this place isn’t set up as a race for RTs & likes & feels more like an ongoing conversation. Engagement is high & on the whole, there’s less outrage & more thoughtful content. I’ve been enjoying the chance to get to meet interesting new folks.
Tip: Start with an #introduction & share your interests. @feditips is a helpful follow to get oriented too.
Oh my goodness... a LOT of new people... 😮 Welcome! 👋
If you need help with using Mastodon and the Fediverse, have a look at:
It's written for a non-technical audience, and hopefully answers most beginners' questions.
If you're looking for accounts to follow, there are lots of ways to do it summarised here:
If you have any problems, ask me and I'll try to help!
As Twitter is melting down (once again), we have many new users coming in here at Toad.Social. All are welcome.
I am committing to break significant news here first, and only later on Twitter, henceforth.
My team and I are heads down working on significant new stories, so may be a bit quieter than usual, but we'll be making sure you have a good experience here.
Thanks for being part of this community, and for your commitment to truth and journalistic integrity. ![]()
Yes, the Court’s affirmative action decision is worse than you thought.

What a great image of why Hitler was allowed to get as far as he was especially for us fans of football that like to tease the Brits.
Thanx @workingclasshistory

That reminded me... Wonder if Elon Musk will handle the self-created self-DDoS of Twitter the same way as Ajit Pai, Trump's chairperson of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC),
infamously claiming to U.S. Congress amongst others that the real responses to its mandatory request for comments on the proposal to abolish net-neutrality were a DDoS-attack, because so many actual people were so extremely opposed to the proposal pushed by Pai's previous employers, the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) that the FCC is meant to regulate,
buuut it did later turn out that the ISPs had actually automated fraudulent responses in favor of the proposal both by using entirely made up people's identities and by without consent claiming to speak for extremely many individual customers by using their personal customer information for submissions in favor while when the actual persons were in some cases asked about it, it turned out they hadn't submitted any comment, hadn't consented to being spoken for and were in fact opposed to abolishing net-neutrality.
The ISPs committed 100% fraud and IIRC were fined a negligible amount, but the world-harming proposal that they had committed mass-fraud to help through... got through.
When Capitalism "self-regulates", it finds that it is fine, as long as we let it.
For newcomers to Mastodon, this is the best visual representation of this site I can find
Bombshell: Former Trump press secretary Stephanie Grisham tells MSNBC about Trump, "I watched him show documents […] He has no respect for classified information"
— This statement from a first hand witness can become VERY problematic for Trump, and most likely, Grisham will now be on the witness stand to support special counsel Jack Smith's criminal case against Trump.
Mostly reclusive and carrying slightly damaged goods. A survivor by some accounts. Definitely in need of much therapy. ;)
Staunchly anti-fascist
Bear in mind that, while I may "like" your "toot", about a person, event or particular topic, if it links to the "bird-site" I will no longer boost and inadvertently contribute to their grift. Everyone has a choice and a part to play when crimes go unpunished.
