On a cold winter day, I stopped in the Big Cat Country building at the Milwaukee County Zoo. The jaguar (Stella) was sitting quietly, as if she was waiting for me to arrive to create her portrait. No other guests were in the building, so it was just her and I, a pane of glass between us. Our college ran a contest for students to design a new sticker to hand out at events.

The winning design is brilliant, but this is -- as we understand it -- the runner-up. Wow.
