Remember, the GOP plan for 2024 is to make it harder to vote and easier to cheat. Our job is to stop them.

@flexghost

I've been seeing a big uptick in the far left, anarchist group on mastadon, especially with the message "Democrats are the exact same as Republicans, don't vote for either". It's transparent.

Call these bad actors out. Do not let that message by unchecked.

“Thank You, Big Oil” Campaign Targets Fossil Fuel Companies

Fossil Free Media has created a campaign that uses billboards to drive home the message that burning fossil fuels leads to global heating.

@QasimRashid
I haven't forgotten that in 1989 Trump called for the death penalty for the Central Park Five, who were wrongfully convicted and eventually proven innocent ~

If you get this, you are probably over 50.

"Mom, it's Daddy!"

This little girl's father gave his life for her and for his country of Ukraine.

This war must stop - Putin MUST be removed from power.

"Yesterday, a disaster occurred in the sky over Zhytomyr region. Three pilots died. Among them was Andriy Pilshchykov, call sign Juice. He was a Ukrainian officer, one of those who helped our country a lot. A lot! My condolences to the family and friends, to everyone who knew the guys."
- President Zelensky

Heard today that Ukrainian pilot Juice has died. Rest in peace, brother.

Only one loss among many heroes, but for some reason I felt a strong fondness for him after reading this interview last year. And wanted to share it now to share the memory of him:

Rest in peace Andriy Pilschikov (40th Tactical Aviation Brigade) and his fellow pilots who died in Zhytomyr yesterday.

Apart from his duties as a pilot, Andriy Pilschikov played an important role in Ukraine’s public relations efforts to improve weapons support for Ukraine. Jim Acosta interviewed him for CNN in 2022.

I feel terrible, Ukrainians die because western politicians still to this day are having prolonged debates on whether to send the weapons needed to end this war.

@uspolitics She should be tested for cognitive impairment. She thinks she's a smart person.

Mathematician Katherine Johnson was born #OTD in 1918.

Her orbital mechanics computations played a vital role in many early NASA missions. Astronaut John Glenn trusted her calculations more than those of his onboard flight computer.

Our 10yr old has gotten ***REALLY*** into mechanical watches & clocks to the point he's on the verge of starting a side gig repairing them. He mentions his hobby to everyone, and a lot of folks have a not-quite-working item sitting around. He's fixed a number of them.

He has had a tough time with an civil war era pocket watch, but was finally able to salvage a compatible part from somewhere, and he got it ticking today. He was so proud, and wants to share with everyone.

gonna get caught up on a lot of posts today, mute if you don't want the spam lmao

This morning on Glastonbury Tor at sunrise. Such lovely colour in the sky but as you can tell from the pathway, it was raining (a lot!).

In addition to her contributions to the Mercury program, Katherine Johnson worked on calculations that allowed the Apollo’s Lunar Module to rejoin the Command and Service Module back in orbit, the Space Shuttle missions, and the Earth Resources Technology Satellite.

In 2015, she was awarded the National Medal of Freedom by President Obama.

When John Glenn became the first American to orbit Earth, he wouldn't trust the computer controlled trajectory until Katherine Johnson checked it by hand. Glenn circled the Earth three times in the Friendship 7 capsule.
