"Pro-life" people have consistently refused to hear this argument, because the "pro-life" movement is essentially about controlling women and their reproductivity — not about "saving life." It is about imposing some folks' moral (and pseudoscientific) views on everyone else by force of law. It is impossible to rebrand this movement as "pro-choice," because in its very foundations it is precisely the opposite of that.

And religionists think they know better….

Here's the deal.

If you're a politician who takes money from mega corporations who union bust, pay a sub living wage, or shipped jobs overseas—don't patronize working people with empty statements of solidarity with United Auto Workers and other Unions.

Had you been principled & held corporations accountable in the first place, maybe workers wouldn't need to strike and put themselves at such risk for basic human dignity.

Leadership is action, not lip service.

Say some extreme bullshit to see if it gets enough support publically.

Walk back on it when there is too much backlash.

Do some non-apology or pretend you were misunderstood.

Pretend nothing happened and test if the next controversial statement is more successful.

That's page one of the populist's handbook. The main goal is only to find the statements with enough support so you can move the public discourse and the limits of what you can publically say further to extremes.

Recently paid a friend a visit. She had to be warded at the public #hospital for cancer treatments. Guess how much she had to pay for a night?
RM3. That's about 60 cents in US$. It was a very basic, shared space. But she is receiving treatment because her insurance will not cover the treatments. I am ever so grateful for universal #healthcare in #Malaysia.
