Sometimes I get so overwhelmed I can’t stand it.

I never, ever would have suspected growing up that in my “golden years,” I’d be consumed by the real and present dangers of catastrophic climate change and fascism in this country.

Still fighting like hell, but that’s not the point of this post, so no need to tell me to “keep fighting, don’t give up.”

I’m allowed, as you are, to feel scared, alarmed, overwhelmed sometimes.

This is one of those times.

I'm a married, middle aged father of one. I've dabbled on and off with #photography, lately with #Fuji #Mirrorless.

I work in IT, & I'm a fan of #FOSS

Last few years I've been heavily obsessed with #cycling, as means to stay active and sane

On the bird site I was strictly an observer and not a contributor, but with the Fediverse I intend to try to toot occasionally.

The GOP has introduced a bill to EXPEL Palestinians from the United States. I cannot read such things without remembering what happened to my own family after Pearl Harbor. After we and 120,000 other Japanese Americans were incarcerated in prison camps for years, without charge or trial, my own mother was very nearly expelled to Japan because of racial prejudice and hatred. Only the brave actions of a civil rights attorney saved her from being sent away. #NeverAgain

Weight has returned to my shoulders, along with a renewed understanding that humans are literally the worst. Went to walk the dogs, and found the stray waiting on the front porch. I walked her back to her owner's house, who said, "You can just keep her, I don't want a dog I have to keep chasing after." I explained I couldn't keep her, and she'd have to go to the shelter, and "OK", was her reply. Anybody in Texas want a very sweet, well-behaved (though anxious), husky? #dogsofmastodon

We have a new cat in our house. He was a stray who hung out at our door and yelled at us for food and attention for over a month. We even created a shelter for him outside. Well he's been to the vet to get checked out and we have to keep him and our muted tortie in separate parts of the house and rotate them through the favorite spots, but he successfully socially engineered his way in and is currently celebrating a job well done.
