I have received for Christmas the only thing I asked for, which is a super nice and high quality Fiskars cooking pot, made in Finland, from (mostly) recycled steel. One of those absolutely indestructible things that when properly cared for should outlast us all. Good shit.

Mom, being the wise woman she is, decided to give it to me this early so I can actually use it all month. 😄​ Which is nice, because now I can use it all month! The calendar is a master we need not always obey!

So I noticed a severe change in the ratio of Black fediverse content showing up on my timeline just because @BlackAzizAnansi had some light posting so I went and followed some more Black fediverse posters, wanted to thank him for sharing so much stuff and let him know I appreciate and notice. And to encourage everyone else to check out the tags and find people to follow.

Congressional hearings are often grandstanding gotchas, and the three university presidents MAY have had a point they were trying to make, but at BEST they are guilty of an utter ability to be articulate, which should be embarrassing given their training, jobs, and institutions.

@Sheril when I was a kid, we didn't have a lot. The library felt like a magical world of plenty. Will always fight for library funding.

So, if right-wingers think that a 13 year old girl is old enough to marry into a sexual relationship with an adult male, but don't want frank and honest sexual education for 13 year olds about their own bodies, to the point of attempting to abuse political power to criminalize age-appropriate sex-ed books, then are they just telling us their politics are based, in part, on a sexual fetish for naive, uneducated, easily exploitable children. Do I have that right?

The Washington Post union is striking on Thursday, 7 December, and they’re asking people to not cross the picket line:

“For 24 hours, please do not engage with any Washington Post content. That includes our print and online news stories, podcasts, videos, games and recipes. Instead, share information about our strike and send a letter to Post leaders in support of the people who make this institution run.”
