@NewsDesk That was quick. It is almost like the folks in Alabama did it right and then tried to slip in one they really liked.... Didn't work, so here is the good one.
My philosophy on climate change is simple. Most people don’t buy Teslas because they’re green, they buy them because they’re cool. Most people don’t work from home because it takes cars off the road, they do it because it’s convenient and offices suck. Give people solutions that are also environment friendly, not problems. If your only selling point is “but, the climate”, you’ve already lost. Even more so if you find yourself trying to bully people into objectively impractical alternatives.

I read an article that was actually quite reassuring. It suggested that US politics may get better, because the right have moved so far to the extreme that they've pretty much left the overton window behind. They've abandoned all their popular policies to focus on culture war nonsense, which doesn't poll well with mainstream republican voters, as we saw with DeSantis' trainwreck of a presidential campaign. Lobotomized Florida residents love his platform, but the rest of the country doesn't.
The right has historically been really good at minority rule, but that minority has long been shrinking as new generations move left. They got lucky with supreme court vacancies, but overall the party is dying. On top of that, a lot of these extreme policies are only acceptable to voters in specific geographical regions. The Republicans from areas where they can get elected on extremists platforms are going to increasingly clash with those who cannot and must remain moderate. So either they'll be forced to drop the nonsense to keep voters, or the party splits into a traditional and extreme wing, which would pretty much neutralize them.

A reminder that Mastodon has no algorithm that pushes posts favorited by others. This is a fundamental difference with the way Twitter works. If you like a toot and want others to see it, the best way to do that is to boost. Favoriting a post helps the author know you liked it but doesn't do much more.
