Cars make every other mode of transport dangerous.

What's one of the leading causes of pedestrian accidents? Cycling accidents? E-bike and scooter accidents? Tram crashes? Train crashes? Accidents to or from the airport? Cars.

Because of the risk of cars, where there's not a dedicated barrier-protected bike lane, of course e-bike and scooter users naturally take the other option, which is the footpath. Which should be a pedestrian-only space.

So we end up with this moral panic about e-bikes and scooters. They crash into pedestrians because of cars. They crash into cars because of cars. They're supposedly too dangerous.

But the real problem isn't the e-bikes and scooters. It's the cars!

Reduce the use of cars, and every single other mode of transport (including ebikes and scooters) gets safer.

The way kids get to school in the US and Canada is insane (and bad for their health).

The parental-chauffeur rodeo outside my kids' school endangers their lives every day.

Car-free "School Streets" are sweeping Europe. (The one in the video, by @emmanuelspv is from the 19th arrondissement in #Paris).
