r/linux really is a shithole. Someone announces a new release of a prominent open source application (Blender) and the only thing the peanut gallery can argue about is which packaging system was FIRST!!!111one..
It's no wonder eyes roll when people talk about a Linux "community" https://old.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/f4ae6e/blender_282_released_blenderorg/
@g I'll have to do more analysis to be sure, but yes I think #OpenStreetMap has much more data in Germany than in almost any other country. This means a higher percentage of things that exist are mapped, and that a higher percentage of things that are mapped have the cuisine data entered (as a tag). We can look at OSM data to answer the second
@chasestruck Fashion trends come and go all the time. Flat design will be out the window soon enough to make room for some glossy retro 3D design.
Pixelfed - the better Instagram - has reached V1.0! Check it out and give it a try. Great work by @dansup .
It's also supported by Fedilab App made by @fedilab .
@shuttersparks Back in the days of IRC and forums, I would have said that this is caused by perceived anonymity. However, nowadays people have a photo and a full name in their account, but that doesn't stop them from typing some of the most regrettable things. Perhaps social interaction on the web just feels so distant from actual face to face interaction, that some people feel absolutely no shame. Or perhaps those people don't have any speech filters on in real life either. I would like to know what has lead to this situation.
@crackurbones As far as I know, phase of an individual wave shouldn't matter. However, if we allow multiple waves (of sound, light etc.) to interact and interfere, you do get noticeable changes, but that's besides the main point here.

@freemo Just curious, what are the two unlabelled badges at the bottom?
@freemo This climate discussion is a good example of something I like call "modern tribalism". Group A has certain goals and ideas and if you're part of it, you automatically have to affirm all of them. If you're a member of group B you automatically have to oppose every statement group A makes, no matter how true/false they may be. At best, this setting produces some hilarious results, and at worst the results are truly tragic and depressing.
I expect that most members of QOTO are reasonable enough think for themselves and resist these tribal urges that seem to play a role in the human psyche.
Meet Fred, aka #PixelFred our mascot. He's been around since June 2018 but many people don't know about him.

Jess is rebuilding one, and I just found a pic, cropped here for size (Bytes, I save them).
@mandlebro It's all about expressing something in a very concise and efficient way. When you're actually using these formulea for something, you end up writing the same thing over and over again with slight tweaks here and there. Writing just a few letters, instead of a sentence, makes a big difference in efficiency.
I’m interested in science and technology. Free and open source software are important to me.
