my favorite argument from authors and publishers in their case against @internetarchive is that DRM for controlled digital lending isn't sufficient because it can easily be broken

first, nice way to admit that DRM doesn't work and is mostly security by obscurity.

second, if IA was a piracy site they wouldn't even be using DRM.

third, how is this different from arguing that libraries can't lend physical books, because someone might photocopy them?

Ugh. Just have to get through tomorrow, and then we'll have a little money for some food that isn't so bland.

@mitchw @pluralistic I mean, is there a more "kitchen table issue" than *grocery* inflation. Every week, Dems should be putting out bills to break up grocery store and supplier monopolies. When McCarthy invariably kills them, Dem's should use it as a cudgel against the right. "We want to lower your grocery bills but Kevin McCarthy and the fat cats who own him and the GOP keep blocking us."

Both parties have held the debt ceiling hostage as a political tool. For example, in 2011, the Republicans did it. But in 2013, the Republicans did it. On the other hand, this year it is the Republicans who are doing it.
