Something is very wrong here.

A Florida Supreme Court justice just abruptly retired, only four months after he ran for another term, and won. This allows DeSantis to appoint his replacement.

DeSantis will have appointed 5 of Florida's 7 Supreme Court justices. He's taking nearly complete personal control of all three branches of Florida's government.

Shocking news about paid “verified” accounts.

Mastodon reached 10 million users.

The mainstream media is saying nothing. Not a peep from The Guardian, Washington Post, Engadget, etc.

Which is funny: because back in January, they were sure to cover Mastodon’s “plummeting monthly active users”.

It’s almost as though Mastodon has defied the ongoing media narrative 🤔

Hello! I'm an environmental journalist with the @TexasObserver. I've been lurking while reporting an investigative story... but now that I've turned in a draft and have my head partially above water, I want to engage!

I'm a bumbling New Englander in San Antonio who didn't realize homes here don't always come with heat, accidentally rented an apartment with no HVAC, and have been alternating between boiling hot and freezing cold ever since!

Here's a photo of my cats.

This morning 🐦NPRInskeep 🐦MorningEdition reported on libraries going digital-only.

They MUST be allowed to own & preserve their digital collections.

That's why we're demanding #DigitalRightsForLIbraries at http://battleforlibraries.com

A common result of unconditional basic income is that people pay down their debts, increase their savings, and avoid taking on new high interest loans. We even just witnessed this again recently with the monthly enhanced child tax credit.

Apparently Trump has a Maga-moat of smoothbrains surrounding Mar-a-Lago—protecting its criminal contents from arrest

Perhaps this is a kind of “protest” if you will?

Funny thing about protests in Florida…

“Florida’s trump-loving governor just made it ok to hit protesters with your car”

Y'all #twittermigration peeps who still insist on using Twitter at the same time as the fediverse really need to rethink your priorities. recognize your addiction and fight against it. stop rationalizing why you should stay in that abusive, exploitative relationship.

This graph shows data from five successive satellites, beginning in 1993. The solid red line shows the trajectory of rise from 1993 to 2022, illustrating that the rate of rise has more than doubled. By 2040, sea levels could be 3.66 inches (9.3 cm) higher than today.

What if airline pilots were responsible for a sudden rise in more dangerous near-misses (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-64967308)? That could be a sign our virus was reducing their cognitive abilities, wouldn't it? Nah, that would just because the airline industry was struggling to deal with recovering air traffic!
