Anything that can't go on forever will eventually stop. When American patience for #RacialProfiling in traffic stops reached a breaking point, cops rolled out dashcams. Dashcam footage went AWOL, or just recorded lots of racist, pretextual stops. Racial profiling continued.

Does anybody else know why so many cis people are blissfully unaware of the anti-trans laws that are passing in the US and the increase in anti-trans hate?
Among people I meet day to day, friends and former coworkers, and my family, I keep finding cis people surprised when I tell them that there are now anti-trans laws on the books in like half the states and when I explain the proposed or current law in their state. Heck, a lot of folks also unaware of the high rate of anti-trans violence even in Southern California. Some of them look really disturbed when I explain how trans people using the bathroom in Florida is effectively a crime now.
These are people who are ostensibly allies and are just completely unaware. I understand some people don't follow the news much. I get that people aren't as likely to follow news that doesn't directly affect them. But how is there this big a blind spot in most of the population when it's a main talking point of one of only two major parties?
“The evidence of Trump’s impeachable offenses was overwhelming and Trump was impeached…
“And in 2023, Donald Trump is once again seeking illicit help in his campaign, this time by badgering Republicans to impeach Joe Biden
“Even with no evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden, Republicans are all too willing to do it.”
Adam Schiff isn’t wrong
So why won’t the media say exactly this?
Andre Braugher was a giant, as capable of being the most intense dramatic actor TV had ever seen as he was of being among its most sublimely silly comic performers. I wrote about Frank Pembleton, Raymond Holt, and everything in beween: https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-features/andre-braugher-dead-brooklyn-nine-nine-homicide-tv-cop-family-1234926939/
I fixed the headline.
And I honestly don't understand how any journalist could write this story without mentioning the study author's own "extreme productivity".
Holy shit MAGA — Joe Biden lost a wife & daughter in a car crash and a son to brain cancer, so if you’re actually perplexed as to how he could still love his son Hunter despite the fact that he did some truly fucking terrible things while in the throes of addiction, then you know fuck-all about being a parent.
American pharmacies are handing private information about their customers over to the police without even a warrant. Contempt for privacy -- with potential "criminal" consequences in anti-abortion states -- has never been more blatant, or dangerous.
As usual, Congress can't be bothered to give a damn.
After trillions of dollars, decades of research, many failed attempts, Elon lands on Mars, the first man on the red planet. As he exist his vessel, he sees etching on a nearby rock. It says “John Mastodon was here.” Musk falls to his knees and begins to weep.
Trauma isn't a contest. Trauma is trauma
War is traumatic
Poverty is traumatic
Natural disasters are traumatic
Abuse/Harassment in all forms is traumatic
Abortion is traumatic
Loneliness is traumatic
There is no superficial scale that determines who has it worse, and therefore is more deserving of compassion
Trauma affects everyone differently
Everyone's trauma is valid
Everyone's feelings are valid
Everyone deserves help
Just because you dont understand it doesn't make it invalid or "fake"

Which means I'll be standing directly between any military force deployed under the Insurrection Act and the rest of the civilian population: Politically, legally, and physically.
If a Trump administration intends to install a dictatorship, they will have to kill me, because I intend to resist no matter the cost.
And I think there are many others that would as well, even if scared.
To be clear, Special Counsel filed two things today: a motion for certiorari before judgment (skipping over the DC Circuit) and a motion to expedite the cert petition consideration.
SCOTUS granted the latter, and ordered Trump's response to the former.

For a long time I had trouble with the concept of unionizing programmers, because it felt like we're already so privileged compared to blue-collar workers.
What I realize now is that all that privilege vanishes like a mirage the moment people start talking about unionization. Or the moment interest rates go up.
Silicon Valley billionaires are drawing a line: you’re either a techno-optimist who won’t question them or an enemy they’re ready to fight.
In his new manifesto, Marc Andreessen embraces faith and fascism to distract from the harms the tech industry has caused and justify the power and wealth of the tech elite. It shows why a renewed Luddite movement is absolutely necessary.
