Sure Keith, I know an excellent alternative. Throw out ALL THE NEWCOMERS and give the whole state back to the natives.

So it seems Musk may have done his next big screwup.
Can anyone confirm this? I looked at Twitter (while not logged in) and it looks like he did indeed do this, but I don't know how bad the experience is for logged in users with notifications and so forth.

As the DeSantis regime eviscerates freedom of speech in Florida's university system, timid journalists use the anodyne word "conservative" to describe him and his apparatchiks. Refusing to call the extremists what they truly are is poor journalism. heraldtribune.com/story/news/p

"Why are you waking us up, house ape?"

Someone get @cspan@twitter.com a parabolic mic.

Instead of saying "come to mastodon" link the person to a thread here where they would totally want to jump in and join the conversation.

"we were just talking about this here: ***link*** -- could really. use a perspective like yours."

It gives people a starting point and some people who are active and who they'd want to follow.

BREAKING: Matt Gaetz gives Kevin McCarthy permission to be the most powerful person in the House.

A guess Rep. Rogers (R-AL) is brave enough to lunge at Gaetz (R-FL), but too much of a pussy to vote to keep his Chairmanship.

When the Republican extremists (redundant?) have full control over the House agenda, once they actually permit a speaker to be named, one of their top priorities is to cause the United States to default on its debt. That will trigger a global economic catastrophe.

It will be essential if and when they do this, for Big Journalism to make totally clear -- with no quoting "both sides" bullshit -- what has happened.

What worries me is that I'm not sure journalists will rise to the occasion.

According to Jonathan Allen of NBC News, Rogers, the incoming chair of the Armed Services committee, was furious with Gaetz for holding out for a subcommittee gavel on the panel but it's unclear whether that has been promised.

I’m just stuck on why anyone would want to be Speaker this bad. I don’t understand why someone would go through this much suffering for the chance to go through more suffering. I don’t get it. Please note that this is not an invitation to explain it to me, not least because I maintain that it’s fundamentally inexplicable in any rational fashion.

I was at a restaurant and the waitress screamed “does anyone know CPR?”

I yelled, “I know the entire alphabet” and we all laughed and laughed.

Well, except that one guy.

New Cocktail

I have invented a new cocktail! Okay, it's a variation on a whiskey sour, but it's a unique and delicious variation thereon! Recipe:

2 ounces bourbon
¾ ounce fresh lemon juice
¾ ounce mulberry syrup
Lemon wheel (for serving, optional)
Star anise tincture (for serving)

Combine bourbon, lemon juice, and syrup. Shake with ice. Pour into chilled coup glasses. Put in lemon wheel, then squirt 1 eyedropper full of tincture on top. Don't mix!

It is purple.

Have you ever suspected that the US constitution is "a rulebook for elites to protect capitalism from democracy"? That it was designed to impede social change & protect the wealthy?

Uh, you're right. plutobooks.com/9780745344720/w
