In the United States, children get shot and die at school, are legally allowed to work dangerous adult jobs for a pittance and can be married off to their rapists.

#Arizona #GOP created a phone number, 602-771-3500, to report inapproriate school lessons. How about a few thousand folks give them a call on Monday and and teach them about appropriate education? Nice that they provided a phone number to reach them directly. The Internet knows how to handle this.

Musk is heavily invested in building & maintaining an anti-Black, neo-apartheid state in all the US spaces he can control.

Blocking newer tech players, likely to be more diverse & less white supremacist than either of Musk/Thiel's white supremacy-soaked empires, is part of the GOP's end-goals as well. They're perfectly matched.

I don't know soul who had complications from the Covid vaccine.

I do know more than several who have died & more than a dozen struggling w/serious health challenges due to long Covid.

I trust docs/scientists-Not snake oil salesman & politicians seeking to feed the ballot box.

I'm impressed. Not only is an Elon Musk tweet first in my feed — don't follow him, and notice they don't even bother with the "people you follow are following...." excuse anymore.

Worse still, shortly thereafter is a video of street fight from a big junk video account. It's not promoted, just recommended by the algorithm.

Musk is really speedrunning the enshittification process.

In his decision analysis course, Ron Howard used to ask students to assign probabilities to each answer and then scored the log of the probabilities.

Students would inevitably put 0 probability on the correct answer to a question. This would generate a score of minus infinity and they'd fail the test based on a single question.

Normally I'd say that's a bit harsh and suggest using the Brier score instead.

But Ron taught at Stanford so it's hard not to see him as doing God's work with this.

There's a new generation of #COVID deniers now, who are not anti-vaxxers but seems to be well-adjusted "nice people".

I call them "centrist health chauvinists".

They'll tell you that "we don't need masks because we're healthy and it's largely over" but forget about the millions of disabled and immuno-compromised people as well as children and the elderly for which an infection can be a death sentence.

Even for them as healthy, vaccinated individuals the virus can cause life-long disability.

The role of masks and mask mandates isn't to single-handedly prevent all #COVID transmission. Mask policies help flatten the curve during surges, and keep essential spaces open and accessible during continued high transmission. They've been very successful at doing that when used.

Been binging Steve Shives’ videos, and he is amazing. He does critical analysis of Trek on YT. He’s funny as hell. He’s unapologetically (and savagely) anti-conservative, calls out dipshits who leave bigoted asshole comments on his videos, and is wickedly sarcastic. He seems (to me, and to be clear, I’m a cis mostly-het man so your view may differ) to be a true LGBTQIA and feminist ally. And he’s *incredibly* smart and insightful.
