Pretty fascinating that Elon, one of the original backers of OpenAI (see screen grab on the left), has now signed a letter calling for "a 6 month pause in developing systems more powerful than GPT-4", while at the same time recruiting a team to develop a rival to ChatGPT (see screen grab on the right) to fight "woke AI"

@alexwild Texas has made the decision to invest in research, literally spending millions of dollars to be globally ranked. The state saw it as part of its overall economic growth- to attract high skilled workers. Ending tenure is counterproductive to that goal. I wonder if anyone has made that connection for them.
