==

Thomas has attended at least two #Koch donor summits, putting him in the extraordinary position of having helped a political network that has brought multiple cases before the #SupremeCourt.

Tonight in "Coralie puts random things in perspective", I wanted to point out that #OpenAI losing US$ 540M last year is roughly equivalent to what it would cost to run #W3C for 60 years.

W3C is the World Wide Web Consortium —which is responsible for creating the open standards that make the Web work across platforms and devices— and was created 29 years ago by Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee.

Yes, the same Web that is scraped for generative AI training.

The hard anti-trans turn in media coverage was artificial and organized at high levels as part of a broader right-wing political strategy.

"At a relatively youthful 81, the original B-unit Michael Bloomberg is also making succession plans, reports Remy Tumin. The plan is: on his death, Bloomberg L.P. will go to his charity which will be forced by tax laws to sell it to Elon Musk, who will fire everyone and replace all the numbers in the terminal data with either 69 or 420, turning history’s only truly profitable media company into a cash bonfire within 6 months."

Notice how essentially nobody in Washington asks “if we can afford” an $886 billion defense budget?

No, we only hear that when we need health care, or student debt relief, or climate action, or paid family leave, or universal pre-K, or child-poverty relief.

Hey all, looks like I'm in the market for a new job for real this time. Senior software developer, skilled in Python, automation, system design, and a bunch of other stuff, really good at getting along with people, also a teacher and good technical writer. Looking for jobs that make the world a better place to be. Like, I'll take a serious pay cut to work in the right place. Primarily remote required. Please boost, thanks!

Nor the glory of #Geoworks PC-GEOS for that matter.

Do not ask for reference letters with application submission.
Do not ask for reference letters before interviews.

If you must, and you insist, only ask for reference letter for the candidate you are offering the freaking job.

Academia loves to take people's time for granted 🙄

If Pete Buttigieg had been caught on video being thrown out of a theater full of kids for giving a hand job to a boyfriend while vaping, and flashed the manager the finger while yelling "Do you know who I am?," #FoxNews could just stop reporting new news for the next 6 months.

Child care providers came to the Capitol Wednesday from all over the state to watch a special session called by Gov. Tony Evers to address child care and workforce issues. But the providers found themselves locked out of the gallery.

There is not a single man alive who has done more harm on a global level, over a longer period of time and across more issues (Iraq, climate, Covid, white supremacy, authoritarianism) than Rupert Murdoch. You can’t change my mind.
