@CdaleCO @stevesilberman

It's the whole party. Since the 1980s, the Republican Party has been trying to eliminate public education, and replace it with taxpayer-funded religious nationalist indoctrination for profit. It's been a long fight, and now they're winning.

@BigMcLargeHuge @RawStory

There's be no significant political backlash at all.

No matter what the Republican Party does, even if they execute a former career military officer, even if they stage a bloody assault on the Capitol and try to execute their own sitting vice president and overthrow the entire US government, they won't lose popular support.

Claudia Goldin wins Nobel Prize in Economics. Among her noteworthy findings is that the birth control pill approved by FDA in 1960 led to increased college enrollment among women.

Every time the Israeli-Palestinian conflict flares up, we are asked to pretend that this is new, this is unprecedented, the government of Israel has done everything it can, that Israel suffers the worst, and the burden of peace falls on the hopeless, destitute, and severely oppressed Palestinian people.

The government of Israel can stop this bloodshed anytime it wants. It doesn't want to. It wants to squeeze the Palestinians out of existence and it expects them to simply roll over and die.

@TruthSandwich I mean, they could have responded by ending apartheid on palestine, but instead they double down.. they really never will learn their lesson.

Listen to the Kennedy family. RFK Jr. is a liar, a creep, and his candidacy is dangerous for our country.

The purpose of propaganda is not to make you believe something. It is to make you believe nothing. So that you do nothing.

Utter nonsense. DNA studies find a close genetic clustering of ME Jews, Palestinians, Bedouin and Druze. Nobody participating in this modern conflict, with its roots in the 2nd half of the 19th century and 1st half of the 20th, knows or cares about what their ancient ancestors were fighting over.

It's Indigenous People's Day, when everyone declares their support for the native peoples whose stolen land they live on. And then most do nothing for them for the rest of the year. I live on land stolen from the Ohlone by the Spanish, it then became part of Mexico and then then was stolen from the Mexicans by Americans.

Maybe we should pay some rent on the stolen land to the tribes or descendants of the tribes it was stolen from. A small property tax (say 0.1-0.25%) would allow them to get back some of what was lost over time, or at least give the poorest tribes who were moved to the worst land the ability to afford electricity, food, water, and and medical care.

I know nothing like that will happen. Support is easy when it doesn't come with a price tag.

Who could have predicted that Sarah Huckabee Sanders' "parental choice" voucher program would turn out to be a massive grift of taxpayer dollars to private Christian schools? friendlyatheist.com/p/report-a

Tom Tuberville is not a very bright man.

"I heard some things ... about race & things that he wanted to mix into the military ...Our military is not an equal-opportunity employer ... We're not looking for different groups .. We don't want to single-handedly destroy our military from within..."

1. The military literally is an equal-opportunity employer. Literally.
2. If "not looking for diverse groups" you're looking based on race, so not merit.
3. Clear he has no clue how racist this sounds.

Seen on a car, but considering this for my new Github avatar.

@Huck @noondlyt Just like the 9/11 allowed Bush to start a war in the middle east to spike oil prices and rake in the profits.

The US does not have an Ambassador to Israel because Rand Paul is a Covid conspiracy crank blocking all State Dept nominees. The US Navy lacks a chief of naval operations b/c Tommy Tuberville is opposed to abortion.
Perhaps most crucially, it is not clear what sort of bills Congress can pass until a new Speaker is in place. This is all GOP dysfunction. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/pin

Love to see people using the Palestine Israel news to sell their prepper kits to Americans. 🙄

"We get to kill you because you didn't follow the rules.

Also, we get to kill you for trying to make us follow the rules."

For those of you who didn't understand modern conservatism.

My firm is currently litigating 4⃣6⃣ voting and election cases in 1⃣9⃣ states. I expect at least one more lawsuit to be filed this week.

The future of democracy is on the docket!

Bottom line, for too many reasons to list here, life expectancy in GOP controlled states is way below Blue states, and is expected to get worse, fast.

How bad is it now?

"1 in 5 Ohioans will die before they turn 65…. a similar life expectancy to residents of Slovakia and Ecuador, relatively poor countries"

It’s so important that we carry the lessons of the past through to today. Merely because one group commits atrocities and acts with depravity does not mean vast hundreds of thousands or even millions of others should be lumped together with them and made to suffer. We must never paint with the brush of justice and retaliation too broadly, or the toll of human suffering will rise immeasurably.
